I began listening to Mercyful Fate back in 1994. I bought “Time” because I noticed this guy had a lot of albums out, so he had to be good. Well, immediately I loved the guitars, but I thought King’s voice was a little annoying. But over time, it grew on me, and now I love it.
So then I bought Spider’s Lullabye, and was instantly hooked on that. So I went out and bought all his other albums all at once. It cost about $100 or so, but it was worth it.
Other groups I listen to include pretty much any heavy metal band, such as: Megadeth, Metallica, Iced Earth, Pantera, Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Nevermore, Dream Theater ... and many others.
I started playing guitar in June ’99. I picked up on it pretty quick, and wanted to learn a bunch of Mercyful Fate songs. But after looking on the web, I couldn’t find hardly any, and the ones I found were incomplete or way off. So I decided to try and tab them myself.
Well I was halfway through ‘9’, and then in December I got an email from Langus, and that’s why I’m here. We agreed to ‘team up’ and help each other, since we were both on the same mission, so to speak. So 6 months later, here we are, nearly every song tabbed, by both groups, and all are pretty accurate, in my mind. Of course they aren’t perfect, only a handful of people know how to EXACTLY play the song, but we’re close I hope.
I met Mika through Langus, and he has helped a lot with these tabs. He did some of the songs that I passed on because they sounded WAY too hard. I looked and saw that he tabbed them, very well too, and I was impressed. So I believe we have a damn good team here. Of course, to anyone out there, if you find errors, or just think that one of our riffs is wrong, let us know and we’ll look into it. This is YOUR site as much as ours, so feel free to comment on anything.
